In 2004, conversations at ASAP Coalition meetings included discussions around the increase of violence in Rapid City. ASAP started to look at how to help youth address its impact in their schools. Stand Against a Violent Environment (SAVE Rapid City) was formed. For 6 years, ASAP organized, planned and held yearly SAVE Rapid City Conferences for adults and additional conferences for youth. The conferences were designed for presentations with community leaders and/or national speakers presenting strategies that led to participants brain storming and planning activities that could be implemented locally to reduce violence related incidents and to bring awareness to violence prevention. The final and 6th annual SAVE Rapid City Conference for adults and the annual SAVE Youth Rapid City Conference was held in 2009.
