Parents Matter Campaign Kick-off and Press Conference April 9

“Parents Matter” is a multi-faceted campaign designed to curb underage drinking and underage drinking and driving in South Dakota. All media attending will be receiving a PRESS KIT with pertinent local information and resources.

In the spring of 2006, following a rash of teenage drinking and driving deaths, the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, the South Dakota Department of Human Services, and the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office launched “Parents Matter.” Since that time, teenage drinking and driving deaths in South Dakota have decreased nearly 70%.

Details of the 2010 "Parents Matter" Underage Drinking campaign and the new video, "Life Changes in Seconds", will be released.

Mayor’s Task Force on Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention Recognizes Local “Partners in Prevention” at Luncheon March 25

RAPID CITY, SD - ASAP (Adolescent Substance Abuse Prevention, Inc) will be recognizing several individuals and community groups at its “PARTNERS IN PREVENTION” Luncheon on March 25, 2010 at 11:30 AM at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn.

At this special event, ASAP will present special awards to community members who have made a difference in reducing substance abuse. Local businesses, organizations and coalitions were asked to nominate someone who works hard to diminish substance abuse in their organization and/or in the community. Individuals and organizations that have been nominated and will be recognized at the luncheon include local law enforcement, professionals in the fields of prevention and treatment of addiction, community advocates and more.
